What Do You Do?

If you have been reading my posts for any amount of time, you should know about me. For those who are new to my blog, or only plain forgot who I am, here is the scoop.

I am a photographer who specializes by not specializing. I’ve been referred to as a preservation photographer, a detail photographer, and just as a photographer. I’ve been photographing for most of my adult life.

I am also a retired firefighter, having served 23 years as a career firefighter and several as a volunteer. I served four years in the Navy as well.

So, now that you have an idea as to what I do (well, sort of), I want to know about you.

What do you do for your work? You don’t have to tell me the details if you don’t want to. Just let me know what you do. Are you salaried or paid by the hour? Is it a 9 to 5 job or work a shift of some sort? Do you consider yourself white collar or blue collar?

What do you do in your free time? It doesn’t have to be a hobby. Do you read, go fishing, or work out at a gym?

Do you do anything creative either as your job or as your hobby? This could be anything from writing to playing music to drawing. Are you a sculptor on the side? Do you play gigs with your band on the weekends?

I am asking these questions because I want to get to know you. You may have bought some of my work in the past. You may follow me on social media. Whatever the reason, I would like to know more about those who like my work. It is you who keeps me going, keeps me wanting to make work for you.

Now, here is a bonus question. What would you like to do, either as a job or a hobby? Heck, it can be both even. Do you want to be an accountant but are stuck in a glue factory? Have you dreamed of being a rock star but work as a diamond dealer?

Unbelievably, I never had the aspiration of being a photographer. It was (and still is) something I love to do. But I will save that story for another blog. As a teenager the rock star life was a goal of mine. This was back in the 1970’s, when almost all teenage boys wanted to be up on stage or out on a sports field.

So, go ahead and let me know. I will not share any information, so don’t worry about it if you are in your 60’s and still dream of being a famous actor. Your secret is safe with me.
